Carl Walshsunderlandsurely these folk should be allowed to protest their innocence before banned from the ground and all cctv should be made available to find out as many facts as possible
Steve PerryCardiff City FCIn the interests of transparency the truth must be placed in the public domain.
Paul EdwardsManchester CityI dont understand why clubs issue banning orders when there is no real evidence of disorder. This case looks particularly weak against those involved. Its another case of heavy handed police assuming that passionate football fans are hooligans!
Marc TrimbleSunderlandIn my honest opinion the police are to blame for this whole incident, if the train had gone direct to Sunderland as it said it would over the tannoy during the game v Hearts then this problem would never have arisen. The fact that the police were ready and waiting at central station shows they obviously had some involvement in the trains chang of destination, i was at the Hearts game myself and stayed the weekend in Edinburgh and im glad i did, I could have been one of the innocent supporters missing games i have paid to go to because of the polices ever changing stories.

Gary WalterNorwich City/Witney UtdI've found this petition a little late but I hope that this decision has been reversed at least until this matter is dealt with in a court of law and that bans are only instigated against those, if any, found guilty This is a point of principle that goes far beyond the game of football.
Brian WilliamsPortland Timbers
Roger PhillipsCardiff City
Tim ClaydonSunderlandPlease don't condemn the innocent.
James HutchinsonReading FC
deb prendergastcardiff cityHaving witnessed similar treatment at ccfc away games. I can sympathise with these fans.
Andy MarksPortsmouthI have been on the receiving end of police actions before during and after matches, despite being a law abiding person, I have every sympathy with these guys.
simon lowearsenalthe police are not always right (e.g. genuine season ticket holders at ##%!nal incorrectly arrested for touting and banned for allowing use by friend) and benefit of doubt should always be given in favour of supporters involved in trouble not of their making.
Stephen LundellSunderlandI am shocked at the clubs stance on this. I would expct the club to support their supporters until guilt is proven.
Gary RobsonSunderlandPlay FAIR.
John WeisenseePortland Timbers
ben wintersaston villalet the justice system do its job
Philip HavelockSunderland AFCPlease review these unjust and unneccessary measures
Keith JuddSunderlandIt would appear that SAFC are in contact with Northumbria Police and are taking their version of events as fact. As an ex cop I find this a dangerous and sinister position for SAFC to adopt. A supporter of my team (SAFC) since 1957 I expect my club to behave in a fair and honest way when dealing with all football fans, not just our own. SAFC, should through Niall Quinn, look at their actions and adopt a fair policy. If any fan is proved to have broken the law then a ban would be correct, and the longer the better, but not without proof.
Robin WilesStoke City

Matt YoungStoke City
chris cummingsstoke city f.c.we will be with you every step along the way... as a stoke fan i know how you have been unfairly treated by the police ,that are supposed to protect us. i have a lot in common with you sunderland fans,i was born in newbottle houghton-le-spring ... keep the faith .....................you are not alone ...
Kevin StaceyNottingham forestI too have been the victim of un-warranted police brutality both at home and abroad. It is about time we stood up to this, just because I may 'fit' a police stereo type ie football fan, hooligan, does not mean I should be treated with absolute disrespect.
paul briggssunderlandApart from football we seem to be seeing actions by the police {G20 as an example} going unpunished and undemocratic, and i don't expect it of a club like sunderland who i have followed for over 55 years to fall in behind.so Nail please review this case and perhaps the clubs policy.
Ken HughesSunderlandSunderland is supposed to be a caring club. Clearly the is something amiss here and the club should get involved in securing the truth and protecting its family.

Peter FosterSunderlandI follow the lads home and AWAY AND HAVE SEEN AT FIRST HAND THE ACTIONS OF POLICE AGAINST OUR LOYAL FANS. I ask you Niall TO RECONSIDER THE BANS and let these fans return to the rightful place, the S.O.L. Thanks Peter Foster
David GillSAFCWe should be standing by our genuine supporters who have been wrongly judged of been guilty without any proof.
George EadsforthSunderland
GEORGE TULLINNewcastle United
eddie haltonsunderlandTotally unfair was not there but have been told the police behaviour was atrocious.
JOHN ROSSSUNDERLANDI HAVE WITNESSED BOTH THE GOOD AND BAD SIDE OF NORTHUMBRIA POLICE AND MY OPINION IS THAT ANY-ONE WHO TRANGRESSES AGAINST THE GOOD NAME OF THE FOOTBALL CLUB SHOULD BE SUITABLY PENALISED - HOWEVER - THE LAW OF THE LAND STATES THAT A PERSON IS INNOCENT UNTIL PROVEN GUILTY AND THE SAME RULE SHOULD ALSO APPLY TO THE FOOTBALL CLUB EVEN THOUGH I HAVE A GREAT ADMIRATION OF NIALL QUINN.
Gary PattinsonNewcastle UnitedAll people in society should be innocent until proven otherwise
Sunderland SunderlandSunderlandInnocent until proven guilty.
Denis McManusSunderlandIt just doesn't seem right to ban people from the ground who haven't been charged with anything, let alone found guilty.
Roger BellisSunderlandThe bottom line - There is NO proof of guilt. Come on Niall even the Police make mistakes. These people pay good money to follow Sunderland and deserve better than this.
Tim McGraneSunderland AFCPlease support the 'innocent until proven guilty' accused and retain your status as an inspiration to the people of Sunderland and supporters of SAFC. I'm an ordinary law abiding citizen but have personally experienced an unprovoked attacked against me by police at a sporting event resulting in a conviction against me. From my experience anyone innocent in such circumstances needs all the support they can get.
Steven CaseColchester United
Dan PeelMan UtdThis is disgusting.
Clive LeeSunderlandI am disgusted in the way our fans have been treat. It is time this was highlighted big time. even if I have to write to our primeminister Gordon Brown. For heaven' sake surely we are not living in a communist country, wher you have no say and are punished for nothing. The club should immeadiately give these fans their season tickets back. The justice system says in law that you are innocent until proven guilty. This will not go away until real justice is given to these fans. Why was the video evidence carefully edited, and not the whole of the CCTV evidence given to the local media? The club needs to sort this serious matter out as soon as possible and reinstate these fans until proven guilty.
Peter HollandAston Villa
Matt HepburnPalaceWe've had loads of bother down at Selhurst too, with lads being banned for no offence at all; and the police and club joining up to create lies to bring innocent fans down. enough is enough

Alan CurranPreston North End FCFootball supporters are treated as second class citizens and in the rush to sanitise football the average football supporter has been alienated.
Peter KeillorSunderlandEven though I live away from my club I still attend regularkly at home and away and I know the vast majority of our fans, as with many other clubs, are law abiding and need to be treated as such until proof is established otherwise.
mike mclarenhibernian
Doug StoneQPRInnocent until proven guilty. Sunderland FC is behaving like a lynch mob - guilt by accusation. I thought we got past the witch hunt in the 1700s.
Michael AshdownLeicester CityRemember, innocent unless proven otherwise.
jason jonessunderlandshocking treatment of loyal fans. no ban until any guilt is proven. the police ought to be ashamed of what went on. IPCC.... waste of space
Tim HopeSunderlandShocking
PAUL SIMPSONSUNDERLAND
Alex JacksonBradford City
Simon MasonSunderlandYou won the respect of all providing transport for stranded supporters, give these supporters a fair hearing and treatment.
Mat StaceSunderland Till I Die.The continued ban of Sunderland fans who have not yet been charged with anything, never mind found guilty, is a disgrace, second only to the Northumbria Police ambush at Newcastle Central Station, and the following disinformation spread by Northumbria Police. The fans involved shoudl have their bans revoked immediately, followed by a full refund for this season's season ticket, and no charge for the next five years (if they decide to return, which after the way they have been treated, I wouldn't be surprised if they vowed never to do).
